Lilywhites look to continue recent good form at South Park

Weather-permitting, Faversham Town will look to continue their recent good form with an away trip to South Park.

The visitors claimed 1-0 wins over Chatham Town and Sittingbourne over the Christmas period.

Those results mean the Lilywhites have lost just once – away at Hythe Town – in their last 13 Ryman South league fixtures and this good form has seen them move into 4th position in the Ryman South League Table with 51 points off 29 league matches.

Meanwhile, South Park are due to head into this scheduled game in 13th place on 44 points, seven points behind Town but with two games in hand.

The home side saw Tuesday evening’s fixture at league leaders Folkestone Invicta postponed after their trip to Three Bridges last Saturday was also postponed due to the recent weather conditions.

That means the hosts are yet to play a competitive match in 2016 and drew 4-4 at home to Guernsey in their last outing on Sunday 27th December following a 2-2 draw at Molesey, a week earlier.

Park claimed a 2-1 victory when the two outfits met at the Shepherd Neame Stadium earlier this season, in the middle of an eight-game winless run for Ray Turner’s Lilywhites, with George Monger on the scoresheet for Faversham and fellow midfielder David Botterill sent-off.

When the two teams last met in their only previous meeting at Whitehall Lane, Faversham Town beat the home side 4-0 through a double from Jack Harris along with goals from captain Wayne Wilson and midfielder Charley Robertson.

Turner’s men are still yet to play their first match without striker Stuart King, who has left the club and now joined local rivals Whitstable Town, while Josh Stanford continues to be unavailable as he has extended his stay in Australia through work commitments.

This means that under-21 striker Jack Sellens – who was an unused substitute in last weekend’s win over Sittingbourne – along with some of his under-21 teammates, may be given the chance to link-up with the first-team squad for this trip.
